Redskins private coach Mike Shanahan mentioned Griffin has been clinically cleared to play within the team’s season opener on Sept. nine against the Philadelphia Eagles. But he anticipates talking to Griffin this past weekend regarding “a couple concerns” that could impact the quarterback’s status with regard to Week one
“I did talk to Dr . (James) Andrews, after talking to your pet, he is likely to approve Robert to play, ” Shanahan mentioned. “There are a couple concerns which he has. I’ll talk to Robert this past weekend and allow you to guys know on Monday. ”
Dr . Andrews supervised Griffin’s warm-up here just before Washington’s 30-12 victory within the Gambling within the preseason finale with regard to both teams. Not surprisingly, Griffin did not play Thursday night, but even with Dr . Andrews’ blessing, Shanahan has bookings about his quarterback’s wellness as Griffin finishes restoration from a ripped ACL and LCL in the right knee.
“I’ll talk with Robert about all those concerns before, obviously, I reveal to you men, ” Shanahan mentioned, when pressed simply by reporters about concerns concerning Griffin.
Could Griffin start against Philadelphia?
“I believe so , ” Shanahan mentioned. “Like I mentioned, I’ll talk to Robert this past weekend, as well as I’ll let you men know on Monday exactly where we’re at. ”
Griffin, meanwhile, sent a tweet Thursday night that displays he’s confident.
