If you can get 30 or more radials at 30 feet each, I think that'd be much better than 30 at 16 feet each. Speaking from experience, I had an 18AVT planted on a piece of pipe shoved in the ground, back of my apt. In-Store Pickup Location Close. An optional DX Engineering Tilt Base allows the antennas to be easily brought down during non-operating times or for tuning and maintenance. By the time you've added just four 40m radials, chances are it's down to less than 50 Ohms. Take a peak at Eqsl. They will work under some pretty bad conditions. I had no issues working most US stations and even worked some Central and South America and of course our neighbors to the north Canada.
